Dutch Lehmann investors may sue ABN Amro

Dutch investors who lost out when US merchant bank Lehman Brothers went bankrupt are considering suing ABN Amro, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Thursday.

Lawer Adriaan de Gier told the paper he is looking into putting together a class action suit against ABN Amro, which, he says, helped Lehman use book-keeping tricks to make its financial situation look better.
On Friday, a 2,200-page official report found that Lehman had used accounting gimmicks before it filed for bankruptcy in September 2008.
ABN Amro was one of a number of advisors working Lehman. The part of the bank involved in the scandal is now owned by Royal Bank of Scotland, the FD said.
De Gier told the paper he is working with a Belgian law firm and is representing some 200 investors with combined damages of €10m.
