Rare bird spotted in Alkmaar garden

A very rare Baltimore Oriole (Icterus galbula)has been spotted in a garden in Alkmaar, north of Amsterdam, according to the Dutch Birding Association.


The bird breeds in North America and is supposed to overwinter in Latin America. It is only the second time since 1890 that the species has been seen in the Netherlands.
