Eindhoven bans paedophile from the city
Eindhoven council has banned a convicted paedophile from returning to the city, report various media on Tuesday. This is the first time such a move has been taken in the Netherlands.
The ban has been imposed because the man has refused supervision from the probation service, reports the NRC. The council has issued a restriction order banning the man from the area. It says this is necessary to prevent social unrest and revenge attacks.
‘There are of course exceptions, for example if he needs to go to the doctor but he will have to report in to us first,’ a spokesman for Eindhoven council is quoted as saying in the NRC.
Since the beginning of this year, mayors are informed when local people convicted of sexual crimes are released from prison.
