Road tax to rise an average 6.7%
Road tax is set to rise an average of 6.7% this year, with car owners in Zuid-Holland province paying the most, according to figures from central statistics agency CBS.
The 12 provincial governments expect to raise a total of €1.4bn from the tax. Because each provincial government can add an extra charge to the flat fee which goes to the exchequer, rates vary considerably.
The highest rise is in Zuid-Holland where car owners will pay an average of €92 more than people in the other provinces.
