All change at Feyenoord football club

Trainer Gertjan Verbeek, techical director Peter Bosz and assitant trainer Wim Jansen have all left Feyenoord. The Rotterdam football club is currently languishing not far above the relegation zone of the premier division.

For weeks there have been reports that not all was well between the trainer and players.
‘When I arrived at training today, I could see the players had had enough,’ Verbeek told a news conference on Wednesday evening. ‘They would not look me in the eye and they did not give their all.’
Verbeek said he went to the club management immediately after the training and told officials that he too had had enough.
This was Verbeek’s first season at the Rotterdam club. Feyenoord currently has 19 points in the premier league and is just five above the relegation zone.
Nevertheless, Verbeek has kept the support of fans, the Telegraaf says. And he was given an ovation when he said farewell to the hundred or so who gathered outside the stadium yesterday.
Replacement
The Telegraaf reports that Feyenoord is approaching Mario Been, currently trainer at Nijmegen club NEC, to take over at Rotterdam.
Until a new trainer is found, one of Verbeek’s assistants, Leon Vlemmings, will take over as interim. Feyenoord play Heerenveen away on Friday.
Verbeek is the fourth football trainer to lose his job so far this season, the NRC says. Raymond Atteveld (Roda JC), Willem van Hanegem (FC Utrecht) and Hans Westerhoft (Vitesse) have all stepped down earlier.
