Homes evacuated after two huge fires

Some 90 homes were evacuated in the early hours of Sunday morning after a massive fire broke out at a C1000 supermarket in Spijkenisse near Rotterdam and spread rapidly, report various media.

Over 130 fire-fighters were called out to tackle the blaze which has destroyed a large part of a local shopping centre. There were no reports of casualties.
On Saturday night 20 homes in Zaandam were evacuated following a fire which took fire-fighters the whole night to get under control because of strong winds, reports the Volkskrant.
No-one was injured in the blaze but 10 of the homes were destroyed, the paper says. A 53-year-old local man was arrested during the incident for allegedly threatening firemen, the paper reports.
