63% of fruit and veg contain pesticide

Some 63% of the fruit and vegetables on supermarket shelves contained traces of pesticides last year compared to 66% in 2006, according to research by two environmental groups.

Milieudefensie and Natuur en Milieu said the least contaminated fruit and veg on sale was at the Lidl and Super de Boer supermarkets.
‘If you want to avoid poison in your food, don’t eat Spanish bell peppers and cucumbers or Italian and Greek grapes,’ the organisations were quoted as saying by news agency ANP.
