Jami attacks Labour leader
The controversial Labour councillor and founder of the ex-Muslims committee Ehsan Jami has launched a stinging attack on his party and its leader Wouter Bos in Friday’s Telegraaf.
The Labour party has lost its way and has allowed itself to be kidnapped by ethnic minorities and Muslims, he told the paper. Jami said wants to join the party’s executive. ‘Labour must become the party of the people gain,’ he added.
The party needs to change fundamentally and Bos is incapable of doing this even if he wants to, said Jami.
Jami has dominated the news since he was attacked by alleged Muslim fundamentalists two weeks ago. He is currently under police protection.
A number of prominent personalities, including ex-Dutch MP Ayan Hirsi Ali, have expressed their support for Jami. But others, including the co-founder of his ex-Muslims committee, have accused him of overstepping the mark with his comments on Islam.
Bos has made it clear that his party will not support the ex-Muslim committee and said he was unhappy with the way Jami has chosen to attract attention for problems within the Muslim community.
According to Jami in the Telegraaf today, he has received support from many rank and file Labour politicians.
