A member of the committee looking into the Labour (PvdA) party’s poor performance in last November’s election has quit after party grandees amended the final report.

Party leader Wouter Bos, parliamentary leader Jacques Tichelaar and acting party chairman Ruud Koole all had a hand in the changes. Edith Hooge then resigned, saying she did not accept some of them.
However, sources told RTL news that the changes were minimal and that the other seven members of the committee had no objections. It was agreed when the committee was set up in January that the party leadership could make amendments.
The report is due to be presented on Friday and the sources say does not threaten Bos’s position. The PvdA failed to capitalise on its position as the biggest opposition party prior to the election, losing 10 of its 42 seats in parliament.
