The Liberal VVD party’s decision to expel its outspoken former integration minister Rita Verdonk dominates the front pages this morning. All but one paper carries a photo of Verdonk, carefully styled for occasion.

‘Verdonk’s departure throws VVD in crisis,’ says the Volkskrant, above a photo of her demurely closing her office door. ‘Going it alone’ screams the Telegraaf, with a picture of a smiling Verdonk.
The Financieele Dagblad has a photograph of the MP barely visible in a sea of reporters. ‘Rift threatens VVD’, is its headline.
‘VVD in serious crisis with [party leader Mark] Rutte,’ says Trouw above a photo of Verdonk with arms akimbo, as if to say ‘it is nothing to do with me’.
The youth-orientated free papers have a different perspective. Metro is stapled into a four-page spread for Penélope and Mónica Cruz’s collection for Spanish fashion chain Mango.
And while Spits has the Verdonk story on its front page, it’s main photo is of last night’s concert at the Amsterdam Arena by the Police.
