Dutch alarm system fails to sound during monthly test
The Netherlands tests its national alarm system on the first Monday of every month, but today it failed to go off over large parts of the country.
The warning system failed to sound in Amsterdam, Noord-Limburg, Gelderland, Utrecht and parts of Zuid-Holland, officials said. They are still trying to establish the cause of the breakdown.
The network of sirens is used to warn people about major incidents and is tested every month at midday.
