Dutch central bank sees economic growth hitting 2.3%
The Dutch central bank on Monday revised upward its economic growth forecast for 2017 from 1.9% to 2.3%.
The Netherlands will show ‘sustained vigorous growth this year’ as domestic spending remains the prime driver, the central bank said in its new half-yearly forecast.
‘Most businesses are performing well and consumer confidence is at historically high levels,’ the central bank said. ‘The labour market has performed surprisingly well, particular last year, with a major fall in unemployment.’
However, inflation will pick up strongly, rising to 1.4% in 2017 and 1.3% in 2018, the forecast showed.
