Two Davy Klaassen goals propel Ajax forward to final CL qualifier
A 2-1 victory in Thessaloniki gave Amsterdam’s Ajax a 3-2 win on aggregate over PAOK, and entry into the play-offs for the Champions League.
Captain Davy Klaassen scored his second goal of the night from the edge of the area with two minutes left. The skipper had previously equalised with a penalty just before half-time.
The draw for the play-offs takes place on Friday. The first legs will be played on 16/17 August, with the returns taking place on 23/24 August.
The 10 play-off winners will join the 22 automatic qualifiers for the group stage of the competition, including PSV Eindhoven, who won last season’s Eredivisie title.
