Internet providers ordered to block file-sharer Pirate Bay
Internet service providers Ziggo and XS4All were given 10 days to block access to the illegal download site The Pirate Bay by The Hague court on Wednesday.
The case was brought by authors’ rights lobby group Stichting Brein which campaigns against illegal downloading.
The court ordered the internet firms to block three IP addresses and 24 domain names which related to The Pirate Bay – including Belgian version of the site depiraatbaai.be.
Fines
If the companies fail to meet the deadline, they face a fine of €10,000 a day.
The internet companies are considering whether or not to appeal.
Two years ago, a lower court ruled Ziggo did not have to block The Pirate Bay.
