Krezip drummer to replace U2’s Larry Mullen for Vegas shows
The drummer of Dutch chart topping band Krezip is to replace Larry Mullen during U2’s peformances at a new venue in Las Vegas later this year.
Bram van den Berg will take over from Mullen who is out of performing for health reasons.
U2 announced plans to perform in Las Vegas at the weekend, including the news of Van den Berg’s inclusion in the line up. U2 last performed live in 2019.
‘It’s going to take all we’ve got to approach the Sphere without our bandmate in the drum seat, but Larry has joined us in welcoming Bram van den Berg who is a force in his own right,’ the band said on their website.
Dutch media say it is unclear how the band came to choose Van den Berg. He has been with Krezip since 2004. The band, whose biggest hits include I would stay, broke up in 2009 but reformed again 10 years later.
Krezip said on social media they are ‘unbelievably proud’ of Ven den Berg. ‘That a legendary band like U2, and one of Bram’s favourite bands to boot, has found him, is unbelievable,’ the band said on Instagram.

Van den Berg’s temporary switch to U2 means Krezip also needs a temporary replacement, in the form of Bram Hakkens.
