2022 in pictures: In January, coronavirus dominated Netherlands
The Netherlands was still very much in the grip of coronavirus in January, with 19 of the 20 best read items on Dutch News that month relating to the epidemic.
In particular, plans by a number of cafes and bars to open in defiance of the rules caused a stir, but later in the month, the government agreed they could open up to 10pm. Hairdressers too staged a protest, by setting up shop in theatres nationwide.
The Voice sexual abuse scandal, the decision by Amsterdam city council to buy up nine properties in the red light district and the arrival of storm Corrie were the other big stories of the month.
January’s top feature looked at the arrival of super fast grocery delivery services in the Netherlands.
