Police are continuing a search for a disabled 10-year-old girl who has been missing with her carer since Monday afternoon.

Hebe Zwart was last seen leaving a daycare facility in Raamsdonksveer, Noord-Brabant, in a car driven by her 26-year-old carer, named by police as Sanne. A search has been under way since Monday evening, when Hebe’s mother reported her missing.

The car is described as a black Kia Picanto with the registration plate PR-425-K. Hebe was wearing a bright pink jacket, blue T-shirt and black skirt and carrying a purple Eastpak rucksack.

Police said Hebe needs constant care for a physical condition and are very concerned for her well-being. An Amber Alert was issued on Tuesday, with appeals in the media, online and on roadside billboards.

Volunteers from the specialist Veteran Search Team searched an area around the village of Waspik on Tuesday afternoon after police received reports that the car had been seen on the A59 motorway between Raamsdonksveer and Waalwijk.

Divers searched a canal next to Hooiweg in Waspik after police received reports that a car was seen going into the water, but found no trace of a vehicle.

Sacha Ausems, the mayor of Waalwijk, told RTL Nieuws: ‘It’s terrible for the family, there’s an incredible amount of sympathy both in the community in Waalwijk, which includes Waspik, as well as in the neighbouring community of Raamsdonksveer and out towards Vught.’
