A woman has been arrested after three young children and two adults needed hospital treatment for stab wounds following an incident in a house in Dordrecht.

The children, all aged under 10, the 39-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man were all taken to hospital after police were called to the house in Seringenstraat at around 1.20am on Friday.

A spokesman would not say if the victims were a family, but said: ‘It looks as if this was a domestic incident.’ The woman is being detained as a suspect.

Local mayor Wouter Kolff said on Twitter he was ‘shocked’ by the news of the incident. ‘The impact is always much greater when children are involved. Let’s hope for positive news of everyone’s injuries,’ he wrote.
