Snow hits much of the Netherlands but will disappear quickly
Snow up to 10 centimetres deep hit large parts of the Netherlands overnight but is likely to disappear in the morning, weather forecasters said on Friday.
There are, however, wide regional differences. In Amsterdam the snow that fell largely disappeared, but in the Veluwe heathland region and the hills near Nijmegen up to 10 centimetres was recorded.
There were few problems for motorists and the snow melted quickly on roads which had not been gritted because the ground temperature was well above freezing, Jaco van Wezel of Weerplaza said.
Nevertheless, there were accidents on the A4 motorway, the A26 and A28 because of the snowfall.
