Kimberley Bos was the surprise winner of the bronze medal in the skeleton at the Winter Olympics on Saturday, the first time the Netherlands has ever won a medal in the event.

Bos, the reigning European champion, moved from fourth to third place in the final run to take the bronze, overtaking four times world champion Tina Hermann.

Hannah Neise of Germany won the gold and the silver went to Jaclyn Narracott of Australia.

Skeleton is the fifth winter Olympic sport in which the Dutch have won medals at some point, following on from distance skating, ice dance, snowboarding and short track.
