Fewer than 2,000 coronavirus cases for fourth day running
The number of coronavirus patients in hospital fell by more than 100 on Wednesday morning, while fewer than 2,000 new cases were reported for the fourth day in a row.
There are currently 834 people being treated for the virus, including 304 in intensive care. The respective figures on Monday were 937 and 321.
Over the last seven days 58 people on average have been admitted to hospital with Covid-19, including six who were taken to intensive care.
The RIVM reported another 1,791 coronavirus cases on Wednesday morning, 28.4% down on last Wednesday’s figure. The average for the last seven days is 1,943, equivalent to 78.4 cases per 100,000 people per week.
The proportion of positive tests in the last seven days declined from 7.2% to 7%.
Another five deaths were confirmed on Wednesday, against a seven-day average of eight. A week ago the average figure was 10.
