In total, 5,608 new coronavirus tests were reported to public health institute RIVM in the 24 hours to Friday morning, down 454 on Thursday.

Over the past seven days, the RIVM has registered an average of 6220 positive tests a day, down 12% on the previous week. Just under 13% of tests at official regional health board testing centres have been positive.

The number of positive tests may not represent the actual number of tests carried out because commercial test centres do not always report their results. Tests that do not meet official standards are not included either.

There was a slight overnight increase in the number of people being treated for coronavirus in hospital, according to national patient coordination centre LCPS.

In total, 2,250 people are currently in hospital with coronavirus, a rise of 19 on Thursday. Of them 728 are in an intensive care ward, down 70 down on a week ago.

Nevertheless, new admissions are falling, the figures show. In total, 130 new hospital admissions were reported in the 24 hours to 10am on Friday. That is well below than the average of 196 over the past seven days.

The number of vaccinate doses administered in the Netherlands, which is an estimate, topped seven million on Friday, according to the government’s coronavirus dashboard.

The figure includes both first and top-up vaccinations.
