The man and his two teenaged sons arrested in connection with the death of a 14-year old girl from Almelo are all suspected of having a role in her killing and in hiding her body, local broadcaster RTV Oost reported.

Lotte’s body was found in a ditch on the edge of an industrial estate earlier this month, but the cause of death has not been made public.

Judges and the public prosecution department have decided there is enough evidence to hold all three in custody for a further 30 days, the broadcaster said. All three are currently only allowed contact with their lawyer.

The investigation into the death is ongoing and a number of witnesses have come forward, including the driver of a blue Mercedes who police wanted to contact.
