Ajax sign Ghanaian teenager Kudus on five-year contract for €9 million
Ajax have paid €9 million to sign Ghanaian teenager Mohammed Kudus from Danish side FC Nordsjaelland.
The forward has played 57 games and scored 14 goals since making his debut in 2018 and won two caps for his country, scoring once.
The five-year deal makes Kudus the third signing for Erik ten Hag this summer following the acquisition of Brazilian winger Antony and 37-year-old goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg. The club is also hoping to secure the signature of Southampton’s Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, but is facing competition from Tottenham Hotspur.
Kudus said he had opted not to take the number 34 shirt out of respect for Appie Nouri, the former Ajax midfielder who suffered severe and permanent brain damage when he collapsed with a cardia arrythmia during a match in July 2017.
