Ajax shirt of three European Cups is ‘most legendary football jersey’
The shirt in which Ajax chalked up three European cup victories has been elected the most legendary ever by the journalists of prestigious soccer magazine France Football.
The iconic white shirt with the broad red vertical band was worn by the team between 1971 and 1973, when Ajax was at the top of its game, winning three European finals in a row. The Amsterdammers saw off Greek club Panathinaikos in 1971, Italian side Internazionale in 1972 and Bulgarian finalist Red Star Belgrade in 1973.

Number three in the magazine’s top 10 is the another classic shirt but with a less happy history. The Dutch national team played in the orange shirt with black lettering when it lost the European final against Germany in 1974.
