Public prosecution staffer arrested in Germany on drugs charges
A woman who works for the public prosecution department has been arrested in Germany on drugs smuggling charges, the German public prosecutor has confirmed.
The woman, 53, was arrested in June alongside her daughter and son-in-law who were also in the car. All three remain in custody in Germany.
She was arrested after being caught driving a car which had been specially equipped to smuggle drugs, news agency ANP said. The car was stopped as part of a random stop and search operation.
The car was found to contain two kilos of cocaine, six kilos of amphetamines and 10,000 ecstasy pills.
The woman has denied all knowledge of the drugs, ANP said. It is not known what job she did within the department, but she has been suspended.
