Last minute goal costs Ajax Champions League final place
A goal in the dying minutes of the game gave Tottenham Hotspur victory in their Champions League semi-final against Ajax on Wednesday evening.
Ajax won the first leg 0-1 and a draw would have been enough to put them through.
At 2-2 and with five minutes of injury time to play, the Amsterdammers seemed certain of going through. But a goal by Lucas Moura in the last minute of injury time put paid to the Dutch hopes, leaving an all England final ahead.
‘It was ridiculous game in general,’ Spurs defender Christian Eriksen told the Uefa website.’We tried to fight back and in the end we were just lucky. I feel sorry for Ajax, they played better football than us over the two games.’
