Two men have been arrested in connection with the quadruple drugs murder in Hengelo earlier this month, as well as other serious crimes, the police have confirmed in a statement.

One was arrested on the A1 motorway where eyewitnesses saw his car brought to a halt by police wearing bullet proof vests. The other was picked up by heavily armed police at an apartment in central Hengelo.

The men are said to be aged 57 and 32 and, according to one report, may be a father and son.

The two are also wanted in connection with a violent incident in Hengelo on November 7, ahead of the quadruple shooting, the police statement said.

Police say they have a team of 80 officers working on the case and more arrests cannot be ruled out.

Two other men arrested in the aftermath of the shooting have both been released and are no longer suspects.

Update: A third man was arrested in connection with the killings on Tuesday afternoon.
