Kiki Bertens reaches semi-final in WTA tennis championship
Dutch tennis player Kiki Bertens has reached the semi-finals of the WTA Finals tennis championship in Singapore.
Her opponent, Naomi Osaka, had sustained a leg injury and retired after the first set, putting the Dutch player through to the next round.
‘It’s never easy or never nice to win a match like this, but it is what it is,’ she said in a press conference after the match, according to the WTA. ‘I’ll take it, and I’ll take my rest, and I have some more recovery time for tomorrow.’
The 26-year-old Bertens is reportedly the second Dutch player to have made it this far in the competition.
