Dutch women’s hockey team clinch World Cup for the 8th time
The Dutch women’s hockey team have won the World Cup for the 8th time after beating Ireland 6-0 in the final in England.
‘We have shown the best hockey and we are the best team here,’ coach Alyson Annan said after the match. ‘We had to prove we could do it and we did. We so wanted to win and I really enjoyed the game.’
Oranje, the defending champions, put out England 2-0 in the quarter finals and defeated Australia on shoot-outs to reach the final.
