Celebrity buggy maker Bugaboo up for sale as founders fight it out
Dutch baby buggy brand Bugaboo, used by celebrities and royalty, is up for sale, the Financieele Dagblad said on Thursday.
The FD says the sale, which is expected to raise €200m, has been prompted by a massive dispute between the two founders, Max Barenbrug and his brother in law Eduard Zanen.
Bugaboo was founded in 1999 and now has annual turnover of some €150m. In total, around one million buggies have been sold since then. The company has also expanded into luggage.
Rabobank will manage the sale and sources told the paper that a deal is likely to be completed after the summer.
Victoria Beckham and Kate Middleton, the duchess of Cambridge, have been spotted using the Dutch company’s baby strollers, which can cost upwards of €1,200.
