Achmea, the country’s largest non-life insurer, has announced a second round of job layoffs, the Financieele Dagblad said on Friday.

The indemnity and healthcare insurance group said 2,000 jobs would be eliminated between now and 2020 as part of a broad reorganisation. This is in addition to the 4,000 positions which have been scrapped since 2013.

The latest move is designed to reduce annual costs by €200m in a period when the non-life market is shrinking. Achmea reported a net loss of €24m in the first six months of 2016.

Achmea has a total payroll of 15,500, of which nearly 13,000 are in the Netherlands. A spokesman declined to see where the greatest number of job cuts would fall, but most will be in the Netherlands, the FD said.
