PVV parliamentarian Dion Graus should have been prosecuted for attacking his wife in 2003, a spokesman for the public prosecution department told a television current affairs show on Sunday.

The department originally said there was not enough evidence against Graus to press charges but a second investigation four years later came to a different decision, the spokesman said. By then, however, it was too late to take action.
Graus has always denied attacking his heavily pregnant wife.
