Dictionary of Dutchness
The CGB or Commissie Gelijke Behandeling is an independent commission set up in 1994 to promote and monitor compliance with Dutch equal opportunities legislation. Anyone can take a case to the commission which looks at discrimination on the grounds of race, religion, age, sexual orientation and handicap. Its findings are non-binding but the commission claims the courts back its position in over 70% of cases. Despite the fuss about racial and religious discrimination in the Netherlands, the CGB deals with more complaints about ageism than anything else. website
