Spring weather to remain unsettled during May holiday

The weather over the May holiday will be typically spring-like, with a mix of sunshine, showers and fluctuating temperatures, weather bureau Weeronline said on Wednesday.
The days leading up to the holiday will be on the cool side, with maximum temperatures of 12° to 14° and plenty of cloud cover. There is also a chance of rain, especially in the eastern regions.
Over the Easter weekend, temperatures are forecast to rise to as high as 18° in the southeast but the weather will remain changeable, with a mix of sun and scattered showers.
There will be little change in the days following the Easter break, with daytime highs between 14° and 19°. While rain is still a possibility, not every area will be affected each day and there will also be sunny spells.
Hay fever sufferers, however, should prepare for worsening symptoms as birch trees are in full bloom and grass pollen levels are beginning to rise, Weeronline said.
The outlook for King’s Day remains uncertain. Weeronline says there is a 60% chance of below-normal temperatures and just a 20% chance of warmer-than-usual conditions for the King’s Day weekend.
The weather is expected to stay unsettled, with a mix of sunshine, cloud and occasional showers.
Looking ahead to the second week of the May holiday, northwesterly winds are likely to persist, but the chance of drier weather may increase as the new month begins.
