Man who attempted to blow up car on Dam dies of injuries

The man who last month set fire to his car on Dam square in central Amsterdam causing panic and an explosion has died from his injuries, the police have confirmed to the Parool.
The man, who was behind the wheel when the explosion happened, was caught on camera staggering around the Dam before being doused with foam from a fire extinguisher by police. He was then taken to hospital.
Police said later the driver was a 50-year-old Dutchman from Noord Holland and that they were considering suicide as a likely motive. The man was “known to the police”, the Parool said.
The investigation has now been closed.
