Holland Handbook: celebrating 25 editions this spring

This spring the 25th edition of the Holland Handbook has hit the book shops and since the first edition rolled off the presses in 2000, over 200,000 copies of what has become known as the “expat Bible” have been sold.

The book is bought by individuals as well as companies and universities with international employees, as a guide to starting life in the Netherlands. Guides have come and gone, the internet may be talking over as a source of information, but Holland Handbook is still there.

Need a weather app? Interested in the history of the Dutch royal family or want to understand road signs? Not sure about your rights to maternity leave or how to rent a house?  It’s all there on one of the 289 pages in the 2025 edition.

Holland Handbook is a weighty, lavishly illustrated packed with essential information for new arrivals and those who have been here for longer. The 11 chapters cover all aspects of living and working in the Netherlands plus a healthy dose of history, current affairs and nice to know information.

Want to bring in your pet, or join an art class, or even get divorced? The information is all in there. But just in case you think something is missing, the publishers are keen to hear your suggestions for future editions!
