Rotterdam zoo monkeys pose for “family photo of the year”

A picture of 10 baboons living in Rotterdam’s Blijdorp Zoo has been dubbed the “family photo of the year” after the group posed perfectly for keeper Lisa Schol.
The female gelada monkeys are holding their young, while the patriarch of the group stands tall in all his glory—and the photo has generated the highest number of likes ever on the zoo’s social media platforms.
Geladas, also known as bleeding-heart baboons, live on high cliffs in Ethiopia and are the only species of ape primarily to live on grass.
The photo was taken on February 7 on a chilly morning when the monkeys huddled together for warmth.
“They were all looking in different directions until I squatted down, and all 10 looked at me,” Lisa told The Telegraaf. “The family is not complete, by the way, because two of the young ones were playing on the rocks.”
