Spring breaks out after cold snap as temperatures hit 18 degrees

Temperatures in the Netherlands will climb to between 15 to 18 degrees on Friday, ending the cold snap of recent weeks.
“In the coming days we will go from winter coat to no coat and we will probably experience this more often in the coming years,” says Dutch national weather service KNMI.
Only along the IJsselmeer and in the Wadden Islands will temperatures remain around 10 degrees due to the relatively cold seawater.
But for the rest of the country, and especially in the south where temperatures are expected to hit 18 degrees Friday, the weekend will feel spring-like, with temperatures in the double digits.
Friday will be sunny and dry with a moderate wind. Rain is forecast for Saturday, but by Sunday the skies will be mostly clear again.
But don’t pack up your winter coat just yet. On Tuesday temperatures are expected to drop back down to 10-11 degrees, with freezing nighttime temperatures, according to Weeronline, and by Wednesday the temperatures will be typically February-like with maximums of 7 to 8 degrees.
For those wanting to relive colder days, NOS is broadcasting the entire 1985 Elfstedentocht on Friday to mark the 40th anniversary of the race, until 5.30pm.
Since 1909, there have only been 15 Eleven City tours – the 200-kilometre race held on natural ice in Friesland – with the most recent edition in 1997, as winter temperatures in the Netherlands continue to rise.
