Rembrandt comes “home” for Amsterdam’s 750th birthday

For the first time ever, 18 works by Rembrandt will be displayed together in his adopted city of Amsterdam in homage to Mokum’s 750th birthday.
From April 9 to August 24, visitors can view 17 of the famed artist’s paintings and one of his drawings at Amsterdam’s H’ART Museum, formerly the Hermitage.
The museum is being loaned the works from The Leiden Collection, one of the largest private collections of 17th century Dutch art.
“From Rembrandt to Vermeer, Masterpieces from The Leiden Collection” will include 75 works by 27 artists, including Vermeer’s “Seated Virginal Player” and pieces by Golden Age Dutch masters such as Jan Steen, Ferdinand Bol and Frans Hals.
A Rembrandt self-portrait from 1634 and three pieces from his The Five Senses series will also be on display in this exhibition showcasing daily life in the 17th century.
