A 22-year-old man from  Arnhem has died in a shooting incident in Pannerden in Gelderland in the early hours of Friday morning, local media reported.

Police were alerted about shots being fired at the Hoogeweg in Pannerden at 2.45 am. A car with a bullet hole in its windshield was found at the scene but the driver had gone. Another police unit stopped a vehicle with several passengers, including the victim, in nearby Zevenaar.

In the latest development, three men and a women were arrested in the village of Braamt, and Doetinchem. It is not known what their relationship is with the victim.

A search is being conducted at four premises in Pannerden and Zevenaar, one of which at also been targeted by gunmen. No one was hurt at that particular location, police say.

Police are investigating if the events are linked. No further information has been released about the identity of the deceased or those involved in the incident.
