Motorist dies after colliding with roadworks lorry on A4

A motorist has died after colliding with a lorry transporting electric road signs overnight on the A4 near The Hague.

The force of the collision left the driver’s car stuck under the works lorry.

The emergency services used a fire brigade crane to free the car. But by the time they reached the driver, reports AD, the victim was seriously injured and unconscious. Unable to be resuscitated, the driver died on the spot.

The accident took place just before 12:30 am, between the Prins Clausplein junction and the Plaspoelpolder exit, with traffic suspended towards Rotterdam. One lane reopened during the night.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
