Feyenoord draw to Milan, move to Champions League round of 16

A goal in the 73rd minute propelled Rotterdam club Feyenoord into the round of 16 in this season’s Champions League, after a 1-0 home win in the first leg against AC Milan.
It is the first time since the 1999/2000 season that Feyenoord have made it into the last 16.
Former Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez put AC Milan 1-0 up from close range in the first minute. It was not until well into the second half that substitute Julian Carranza got the equalizer, by which time Milan were down to 10 men, after Theo Hernandez was sent off for a dive.
“This game says a lot about this team, that despite all the setbacks with injuries, they can still achieve this,” said interim coach Pascal Bosschaart after the game. “It says they have a lot of character. That is what I am most proud of now.”
Feyenoord will meet either Arsenal or Inter, which will be decided in Friday’s lottery. The matches will take place in early March.
On Wednesday night, PSV meet Juventus at home in their return leg in the Champions League play-off deciders. The Eindhoven side lost the first leg 1-2.
