Dutch tourist rescued after injuring leg on hike in Malaysia

A 51-year-old Dutch tourist was injured after falling against a rock while hiking in Malaysia.
The tourist was climbing the heavily forested Jasar Hill in the Cameron Highlands with a friend when she slipped and injured her knee, leaving her unable to walk on her own.
She was carried down the hill on a stretcher by eight firefighters who arrived at the scene after being alerted to the incident. The rescue operation took about three hours.
“Firefighters applied a splint to the injured knee before bringing her down to the foot of the hill using a stretcher,” said Mohd Salahuddin Isa, deputy director of the Operations and Rescue Department of the Pahang Fire Department. “She was safely brought down… and handed to the medical team.”
Jasar Hill is the highest point on the Malaysian mainland and a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers.
