Beyond the Randstad: Dubai is an investor’s paradise

The family-run Dutch Real Estate Company (DREC) has been helping internationals in the Netherlands with their entire housing journey—from finding forever homes or investment properties to renovations and mortgage advice—for over a decade.

Recently, with new rules and regulations in the owning and rental markets leaving both buyers and sellers dazed and confused, DREC has been expanding its property reach into lucrative foreign markets for clients who are looking to invest but squeamish about committing to a tight and unpredictable Dutch housing market.

“Clients are selling properties and investing abroad due to difficulty in finding properties that comply with the new rules and regulations for renting,” says DREC’s founder and CEO, Indra Manniesing.

“It’s crucial to act before tax implications arise. With new regulations, investing outside the Netherlands is appealing, and we can assist with that, providing the same full-service experience as clients are used to when working with us.”

Specifically, DREC has its sights on Dubai, where it’s been increasingly selling investment properties to inhabitants of the Lowlands.

Safe and steady

“There are so many benefits for internationals in Dubai,” says Manniesing. “There’s no capital gains or annual property tax, it’s easy to register and not hard to get a green card. Dubai’s expansion is steady, and it’s one of the safest places in the world.”

A recent report by Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection (BHTP) ranked Dubai as the globe’s sixth safest city to visit. Add to that a current rate of return of about ***at least 10% on your investment. Dubai has become extremely appealing for international investors.

“And that is a conservative estimate, it is usually higher,” says Manniesing. “The return on investment is definitely higher in Dubai than in Europe.”

DREC works with four local partners, including a property management company and a renovations firm, to make sure its Dutch practice of being a one-stop-shop for its clients’ housing needs continues in Dubai.

“Our agents provide comprehensive support, from property search to key delivery,” states Manniesing. “We remain dedicated to assisting our clients well beyond the completion of the sale.”
