The Netherlands is in for a chilly weekend, with a chance of snow on Saturday night, weather bureau Weeronline reported on Friday.
Saturday will be cold and overcast, while Sunday will bring plenty of sunshine, though temperatures will not rise above 3°C. The easterly breeze will make it feel even colder, Weeronline said.
The dry, chilly weather is expected to continue into next week, with sunny days but freezing temperatures overnight, leading to widespread frost.
This could make outdoor skating on natural ice rinks possible, but the cold spell will not last long enough for lakes and canals to freeze over, Weeronline said.
From Wednesday, temperatures will begin to rise again, bringing more unsettled conditions and an increased chance of rain.
According to the KNMI’s long-term forecast, the temperature will reach double figures by the middle of next week.
