A chilly start to the week, but an early spring is on its way

The Netherlands will experience a major shift in the weather this week, with the chilly days and night frosts giving way to almost spring-like conditions from Wednesday.
Monday will be another sunny winter day with highs of between 1° and 4° and a light to moderate easterly wind. After an overnight frost, on Tuesday, high cloud will move in, but the sun will still be visible at times and it will remain dry and cold, Weeronline says.
By Wednesday, winds will shift to the southeast, ushering in milder air. After another frosty night, daytime temperatures will rise to 5° in the north and up to 10° in the south, accompanied by a mix of sunshine and cloud.
On Thursday, a band of rain or showers will pass over the country, bringing increased cloud cover. Southern winds will continue to bring mild air, with temperatures reaching 8° in the north and 11 to 13° in the central and southern regions—significantly warmer than the seasonal average of 6 or 7 degrees.
Friday will feel like spring, with plenty of sunshine and no rain, with temperatures rising to 12° in the north and as much as 17° in the south, making it the warmest day of the year so far.
The mild weather will continue into the weekend, when it will be dry but mainly overcast. The KNMI’s long-term forecast is for a mix of mild temperatures and rain heading into March although it may become cooler again as March progresses.
