Rotterdam police have issued a new photo of the man they urgently want to interview about three apparently random shootings in the IJsselmonde district of the city, which have left two people dead and one seriously injured.

A €30,000 reward has also been offered for information leading to the arrest. The third shooting took place earlier on Thursday and left an 81-year-old man seriously ill in hospital.

Police say they are assuming all three shootings are connected, but a motive has not yet been established.

Passers-by found the third victim early on Thursday morning and alerted emergency services, local broadcaster Rijnmond reported.

On December 21 a man was shot and killed at Reyerdijk in the district and a week later a 58-year-old man was found on a cycle path on Roelantpad. He also died from his injuries.

None of the incidents seemed to be gang-related as none of the victims had criminal links, police said.

Police earlier released footage of a man they want to interview in connection with the shooting of the 58-year-old. The latest surveillance camera footage comes from Thursday’s attack.

“It is of the utmost importance that this man is identified quickly and arrested to prevent further incidents taking place,” the police statement said.

A man was arrested on Monday in connection with the shootings but is not thought to be the gunman.
