Dutch rock band Kensington add in an American influence

Kensington, dubbed the most successful Dutch rock band of the last 15 years and without a singer since 2022, has brought in American national Jason Dowd to complete their line-up.

Kensington, known for hits such as War, Do I Ever, and Street, had sold out the Ziggo Dome 19 times before Eloi Youssef departed, citing dissatisfaction with the band’s future direction. To date the band has had four number one albums and performed the largest concert by a Dutch rock band in the country’s history when they sold out the Johan Cruyff Arena in 2018 with 51,000 tickets.

Dowd, who sent a demo to the Dutch band upon learning they were searching for a singer, hails from Louisiana and is a fan of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Otis Redding, and the Doobie Brothers.

“It’s impossible to comprehend. Truly insane,” Dowd said of his new Dutch adventure. “I still can’t fully grasp everything that’s happening. But… it’s going to happen.”

Dowd wrote the new single A Moment, which has been warmly received by Kensington fans for staying true to the band’s sound. “They are so back,” said one fan on YouTube. “Wow, such an amazing song. I really missed you guys, and Jason, you fit so perfectly,” said another.

The new-look Kensington has already announced they will be performing at the Ziggo Dome again this December.
