Dutch minibike champion, aged seven, dies after accident
A seven-year-old boy and Dutch champion, who was critically wounded in an accident at an indoor kart circuit two weeks ago, has died, his parents have said on social media.
Sid Veijer from Staphorst, who was regarded as a great racing talent, was riding a mini motorbike at the time. Just two months ago he became national minibike junior champion.
His father wrote that last Monday his son’s condition seemed to be improving. “But at the end of the week all hope had gone and Sid lost the fight,” he said.
Police are investigating the circumstances at the Swalmen track where the accident happened.
